A 17-year-old appeared in Middlesex Superior Court on first-degree murder charges tied to the August deaths of his mother and younger brother.

The 30-second version
An Acton teenager accused of killing his mother and younger brother appeared in Middlesex Superior Court on October 6. Prosecutors outlined additional allegations about his actions surrounding the August deaths, according to Boston 25 News.
What was reported in court
Arjun Aravind, 17, was arraigned on first-degree murder charges in Woburn on Tuesday, Boston 25 reported. Prosecutors alleged that he showered and packed a car after the killings. They also described alleged online activity involving ChatGPT and fictional scenarios about violence and leaving in a vehicle.
These are prosecution allegations, not findings of guilt. Aravind is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
How the investigation began
The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office identified the victims as Sudha Venkatesan, 45, and Siddharth Aravind, 14.
According to the office’s August 12 statement, Acton police went to the family’s Martha Lane home on August 11 after Aravind’s father reported being unable to reach his family and a visiting tutor could not contact anyone at the house. Officers found both victims dead inside.
Authorities said Aravind had left in his mother’s vehicle. Wayland police located him inside that vehicle early on August 12 and took him into custody without incident, the statement said.
