Stockbridge, MA, at Christmas 2026: Dates, Tickets and What to Do
Stockbridge's Main Street at Christmas returns December 5 and 6. Here's when to see the Rockwell-inspired scene, how to get tickets, and what to know about nearby Winterlights.

The quick take: Stockbridge's Main Street at Christmas weekend is scheduled for December 5 and 6, 2026. The signature street recreation happens Sunday, December 6, from noon to 2 p.m. Admission is $5 per person, with children under 12 free. Buy tickets ahead of time, because none will be sold on site. Why Stockbridge is a Christmas classic
Some towns put on a holiday festival. Stockbridge builds its celebration around an image people already know: Norman Rockwell's Stockbridge Main Street at Christmas, also known as Home for Christmas. The painting, begun in 1956 and completed in 1967, captures the village's storefronts and small-town holiday atmosphere. Each December, the town brings that scene back to life with antique cars and seasonal festivities. The Chamber identifies 2026 as the celebration's 37th year. Source: Stockbridge Chamber of Commerce
For a first visit, Sunday is the clearest choice. It is the part of the weekend built around seeing Main Street as Rockwell did, rather than simply shopping in a decorated town.
Sunday, December 6: The Main Street recreation
For two hours, Main Street becomes a pedestrian event. Organizers plan more than 25 antique cars, weather permitting, along with Victorian Carolers and music from Monument Mountain Regional High School. The Red Lion Inn courtyard will offer food and seasonal beverages.
For children, the published program includes face painting, stories and crafts, and a visit from Santa, Mrs. Claus and their reindeer sheep. Horse-drawn wagon rides are listed for an additional fee and depend on the weather.
Before buying: Tickets are nonrefundable and nontransferable. Bring printed tickets, and if you purchase as a group, arrive together. Children under 12 do not need a ticket. The event goes ahead in rain, snow or shine, although some activities may move indoors. Snow is not guaranteed, and antique cars and wagon rides are weather-dependent. Source: Sunday event details
Saturday, December 5: Tours and a holiday concert
Saturday offers two separately ticketed ways to extend the trip:
- Historic Holiday Property Tour: A self-guided tour from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., listed at $35 per person. Check the organizer's itinerary before setting out, since the tour covers area properties rather than one walkable stop.
- Holiday Concert and Group Sing-Along: 5 to 6:15 p.m. at First Congregational Church, 4 Main Street, listed at $40. The church opens at 4:30 p.m., with general-admission seating.
These are separate purchases, not benefits included in the $5 Sunday admission. Check current availability before booking accommodation around either event. Source: Chamber event listings
Add Naumkeag Winterlights to the trip
The Trustees list Winterlights at Naumkeag for November 27, 2026, through January 2, 2027. The schedule is Wednesday through Sunday, with extra openings December 21, 22, 28 and 29, and closures December 24 and 25. That makes it an option beyond the Main Street weekend.
The illuminated garden walk requires advance timed tickets. Standard listed admission is $32 for nonmember adults and $15 for nonmember children, with member and value-night rates also offered. Check the chosen date's ticket listing for the exact price and remaining availability. Winterlights is separately ticketed from the Chamber events.
Important for families and accessibility: The Trustees say Naumkeag's steep, uneven terrain is not wheelchair- or stroller-accessible and may be difficult for visitors with limited mobility. Check directly with the organizer if that affects your plans. Follow the parking instructions attached to your selected ticket rather than assuming you can park at the property. Parking on Sunday: Do not aim for Main Street
The Chamber says there is no Main Street parking before 2 p.m., and no passenger drop-off or pick-up there. Public parking is listed at Marian's at Eden Hill, 2 Prospect Hill Road, with a shuttle running 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
When Main Street is closed, follow the Chamber's directions via Vine Street near the fire department toward Vine and Pine Streets. Limited accessible spaces are at the Town Offices, 50 Main Street, and a permit is required. Leave extra time for parking and the shuttle instead of planning to arrive at noon sharp. Our pick for a first visit
Want the classic Stockbridge Christmas scene? Choose Sunday, December 6, and build your day around the noon-to-2 p.m. recreation.
Want a full weekend? Add one of Saturday's ticketed events and a separately reserved Winterlights visit, leaving time between stops.
Visiting with little kids? Sunday's short event window, free admission for under-12s, and planned crafts make it a manageable starting point. Treat Naumkeag as a separate decision because of its terrain and stroller restrictions.
Prefer fewer moving parts? Visit Main Street outside the festival weekend for a quieter look at the village, but do not expect the antique-car recreation or Sunday program on other dates.
